Zanzibar is the place to go if you want to lose yourself, in a paradise that envelopes you in their culture and makes you feel like you could exist there and not want for anything, except the occasional blast of air conditioning and a lifetime supply of SPF 100.

There is also a glaring absence of female artists present within the galleries. Historically, female artists and art work would have been difficult to come by but surely they could have found space for a few works in the Modern and Contemporary art sections. Obviously, they did not see fit to ‘See Humanity in a New Light’ with regards to gender representation.

Rolling green hills that go on forever, perfectly maintained roads, no garbage to speak of and volunteers on the roadside sweeping up stray twigs and leaves; Rwanda is quite literally the cleanest country I have ever seen.  Not to mention courteous and friendly.  We had the pleasure of returning through these same hills a few days later and it was no less striking.

Mbeya,Tanzania The drive to Mbeya from Malawi is all mountains, trees, lake views, and small villages.  Mbeya is elevated above the malaria line so it’s cold but the valley is beautiful.  Looking at google maps, I realized that Mbeya is settled in The Great Rift Valley which is not really one large trench but a network of similar trenches that extends from Lebanon to Mozambique. I am terrified of birds, Stanley Park is therefore a terrifying place for an Ornithophobe; there are all the usual suspects: pigeons, seagulls, crows, and tiny birds I cannot name, but there are also massive Canadian Geese and Swans.  I saw a tourist chasing a Goose, trying to get the perfect shot, I was both amused and horrified by this scene.
